Social Media can drive Social Communities

Social communities can grow big with social media. While developing my social media strategy for A local San Antonio gym it became clear that blending several social media tools is the way to maximize the power of the medium. Here are my recommendations to build their Community using social media.

It starts with the development of individualized Facebook pages for each club with an established authentic voice where each page would offer specific information to each club and help to establish a community for its members. A Twitter account will be created to maintain customer satisfaction and the reputation of the club. Blogging will become more prominent on the main web site to include posts from experts with useful tips to getting the most out of your workout along with routines from personal trainers on staff for the members to do at their own pace in the club. A branded YouTube channel will be set up and offer an outlet for the members to give testimonials of their success stories that they achieved while being members of the gym. The videos will also be published on the main website and linked to Facebook and Twitter. The last step to this plan is to get the gym members involved with Foursquare. Members will be rewarded for their “check-ins” and can earn special treatment by becoming the Mayor. Along with earning points, Foursquare also becomes a multitasker with the members Facebook and Twitter accounts by posting their location and what they are doing.

In conclusion, the integration of this social media strategy with their current traditional marketing I believe there is great potential for growth, growth not only in membership but also as a community in whole. Through the member and staff interaction within these platforms the development of the gym

Let the creative chaos ensue!

So a couple weeks ago I got to attend SXSW which kicked some serious ass and I mean that literally. I couldn’t walk for two days afterward. But all that pain was not without its rewards, I have collected a few photos that give a little flavor of all the beautiful and a amazing things I experienced while perusing the streets of Austin, TX.

Iphone assignment

My application that I came up with is for my job at SACA, the student association of campus activities at Texas State University. It would include a schedule of events for each semester, a contacts page of all the coordinators, and a form to fill out to sign up to volunteer for any of the events. The second screen shot is of the calendar of events which is designed every semester and would be available on your iPhone. I didn’t realize the photo of my sketch came out blurry so I will try to make a simple proof on the computer if I can.

This is one of the most inspiring people in graphic design that has helped me break through several creative blocks. I love the way he combines classic black and white photography and the bold color blocks.

Hello world!

Well, this class is making me face my demons and connecting to the world in every facet. I’m excited for this semester and can’t wait to really dive into the social media world. I’m a communication design senior at Texas State University and I love everything I do for that. I’m not really good about talking about myself on the computer so I’m sorry that this is short and sweet, but I promise over time you all will get to know me more. We are all in this together and feedback and comments are always welcomed! I haven’t decided what specifically this blog is going to be about, but it shouldn’t take me long to figure out what to do.

As for the video we watched in class, I thought is was extremely informational!! Everyone knows what the internet is, but very few people know WHAT makes the internet. I had no idea so much went into creating the one thing that rules our world. I still don’t truly understand how it all works together, but I think that’s simply because I don’t speak extreme computer language. I was surprised to hear that AT&T and IBM turned the project away when it was initially started. That’s one of those opportunities you only get once in your life. I will add more comments about the video later, but those were my main thoughts after watching it. There was a ton of information to retain and well let’s face it an ADHD kid is not the best one at remembering the little things. Overall I thought the movie was very beneficial for understanding the internet.

Till the next post, TaTa.
